Five months of Joy

Isaac is now 5 months old. How time flies. He had his 2nd haircut but I kept it long. I'm still not prepared to part with his natural-born hi-lights. He can sit with light support now. So we got him a Bumbo Seat, a South African revolutionary invention that comes in a rainbow of colours. We got him Orange, the latest addition to the colour chart. Another milestone that deserves champagne and fine dining would be he finally is sleeping through the nite just at the struck of his fifth month. I call this amazing and I love him sooooo much for doing it automatically. I was about to wean him but looks like he knows the time has come and the time is now. His milk intake is still a lil low 120ml - 150ml. He has been drooling quite a bit and has entered into a biting frenzy. Oh pulling too, and the target is none other than my hair! He is still scratching himself whenever he has the chance to, which is when he successfully remove his own mittens or when I remove them to let his fingers make some discoveries. The worst was Nov 27, 2008. It was a long and deep cut. My heart ached more than the cut itself. I couldn't bring myself to see it. I partly blame myself for not monitoring him diligently. He chose to do that naughty act of his when I was still dreaming away...after he removed his mitten. His face must be dry and itchy then. Poor baby...!!! My heart still aches when I see the healing scar. I wonder what prevention measures I have to take next. Rubberband? Scotch tape? Masking tape? Staples? Sigh.....:(

White Calgary

On and off Calgary will turn completely white. Weather in November has dropped tremendously ranging from as high as 10C to as low as below -2C below freezing point. The management of our apartment has sent their Resident Manager to set up Christmas lights at our balcony and it comes with a timer! How cool is that! It's the time for snow boots, gloves, beanies, leather jackets, leg warmers and layers of clothing. Calgarians have started to ski too since golfing if out of the question. I wonder when my turn will come.

When You Have A Baby.....(Part II)

  • You discover how much there is to say about one tooth.
  • You finally realize that true joy doesn't come from material wealth.
  • You'd rather buy a plastic tricycle than those shoes that you've been dying to have.
  • You realize that although sticky, lollipops have magical powers.
  • You don't mind going to bed at 9 p.m. on Friday night.
  • Silence? What's that?
  • You realize that the 15 pounds you can't seem to get rid of are totally worth having. (err...err..)
  • You discover an inner strength you never thought you had.
  • You no longer rely on a clock — your baby now sets your schedule.
  • You give parents with a screaming child an 'I-know-the-feeling' look instead of a 'Can't-they-shut-him-up?' one.
  • You take the time for one more hug and kiss even if it means you'll be late.
  • You learn that taking a shower is a luxury.
  • You realize that you can love a complete stranger.
  • You find yourself wanting to make this world a better place.
  • If you didn’t believe in love at first sight before, now you do!

When You Have A Baby.....(Part I)

  • You finally stop to smell the roses, because your baby is in your arms.
  • Where you once believed you were fearless, you now find yourself afraid.
  • The sacrifices you thought you made to have a child no longer seem like sacrifices.
  • You respect your body ... finally.
  • You respect your parents and love them in a new way.
  • You find that your baby's pain feels much worse than your own.
  • Your heart breaks much more easily.
  • You think of someone else 234,836,178,976 times a day.
  • Every day is a surprise.
  • Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)
  • You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.
  • You become a morning person and finally know where the sun comes from.
  • Your love becomes limitless, a superhuman power.

Return Policy

I went to GNC to get a detox product and was introduced the 2-Day Cleanse programme. After 2 days of taking the green liquid and religiously following the instructions, I got no results. Detox to me has to do with bowel movements. That's probably how the the body get rid of toxin. This so called best seller did the exact opposite! After reading some reviews which are 95% negative on the product, I decided to return it to GNC. Ah-ha! The catch is here - I have finished the 2 bottles, can it be returned? And..........guess what? GNC accepted my return and refunded me! It's hard to fathom how they value customer satisfaction in this part of the world. I cannot imagine if the same policy applies in Malaysia....!! So to you readers out there : please do not waste your money on the above-mentioned product.

Steamboating Fun

It's so fun to have steamboat on a cold cold night. We bought a "Lover Pot" which can take 2 types of soup and invited Kee June over. I made chicken and tom yum soup. We had sesame sauce, chili padi, hot sauce and chilli oil too. We opened the balcony door and let the wind chills join us.....

7 Habits of a Highly Effective Baby

  1. Poo-poo ONLY on freshly changed diapers averagely about 3 times a day.
  2. Wake mama up every morning either by scratching her face OR yelling into her ears. Laugh upon succession.
  3. Sleeping on parent's bed every night and converting own crib to wardrobe.
  4. Turning his mane attraction into main attraction.
  5. Prefers to watch soccer than Little Einsteins.
  6. Starts saving for education fund by refusing to drink milk.
  7. Smile when spoken to. Anybody will do.

Flurries & Election 2008

I wanna remember this day. Two major things (one world class major and one domestically major) happened. Barack Obama won Presidency of United States (not that he will buy me dinner or something) and Isaac experienced his first flurries aka light snow. Yes, in the middle of fall. This is typical Calgary. We woke up the next morning to a snow-capped city. The view from our apartment is just breathtaking. From 21st floor overlooking the Bow River and Kensington. All I need is a cup of steaming hot coffee, a bathrobe (it's kinda cold) and some beautiful thoughts. It is starting to look a lil like Christmas already.
