Smart Trike Where Are You?

We saw this Little Tikes Smart Trike in Toysrus Vancouver and Isaac loved it. So FIL sent us some money asking us to get him one for his birthday. Unfortunately this trike is not available in Toysrus Calgary since we came back! I wonder when will it be in stock again. It's Summer, we need it now. Don't make your appearance in Autumn, I better warn you Smart Trike!!!!

Missing U

I was on the phone for 30mins with the woman of my life..my mom. I realised how much I missed her and feel like flying back to Malaysia immediately to see her and be near her. There's no way like home. There's no place like being under the loving wings of your mom.

From London With Love

Uncle Jio and Aunty Mary sent the birthday boy a toddler Manchester United Polo tee all the way from London. In the parcel there is a MU tee for Daddy, a butterfly tea towel, scone recipe, scone cookie cutter for me and a birthday card for Isaac too. Aunty Mary sent the gifts early as she has to undergo operation for her arthritis. She has always been a thoughtful and sweet aunt to all of us. We wish her well and speedy recovery so she can travel the world with Uncle Jio in no time!

Rash Rash Go Away

He woke up with a huge raw red patch on his right cheek. We suspected he slept right cheek down the night before. We applied lotion on him diligently hoping that it won't spread to his entire little face. Thank goodness it cleared the very next day. Phew!

Beaners Here We Come

We had to bring him for a trim before his birthday bash. It was a nice and breezy day. This time we wanna try Beaners, a kids saloon thinking that the fancy high chairs, cartoon, toys and lolipop will do the trick of making him enjoy the whole thing. Little did we know that he resents hair-cutting after being frightened by the electric-shaver-encounter with Lisa on his previous haircut. That brings us to wonder how good a baby's memory can be. We did what was needed to get him through it. Some of the stylists even came to play with him, chatted and comforted him hoping to get a decent cut out of this messy situation. Well, we had to move him to my MIL's lap to keep him from fidgeting. It wasn't too perfect a cut but we did our best. Some areas looks dog-bitten. It was CAD15. Ouch.

Isaac's 1st Birthday Gift

Isaac wants to express his biggest thanks and hugs to Aunty Lisa who is the 1st to get him his 1st year birthday gift. This cute little shirt has been hiding in his closet for 3 months and will be seeing some sunlight soon. Now Isaac has his own dress down shirt and Daddy can have his Abercrombie back. Baby is now ready to go to work!

Baking Flop

Poor blueberry poppy seed muffins. Poor hubby who ate quite a few just to make me happy. I had to throw the rest away. They looked undercooked but didn't taste like one. They became soggy the very next day. I knew I added too much water this time. Clumsy bake. Something went wrong with the baking time as well cos the initial batch of the same came out perfectly well weeks ago. Perhaps I shouldn't use the mini baking cups? There are too many perhaps in this case. Perhaps I should follow the recipe from A to Z. Perhaps.

Crazy Me

The first pix shows all the new clothing I got for Isaac in Calgary. Do note that price tags are still attached. The following pix show just a fraction of the stuff I bought in Seattle. His clothes are all over the house. His wardrobe is full. His clothes can last till 3T (if you are a mom, you will know what that means). Last week I took a peek at his closet and pack all the outfits he has outgrown. I got one huge laundry bagful. Some of the shoes were not even worn once. OK I admit, I have a thing for baby clothes. Now that he is growing probably my fetish would mellow a little, hopefully. We'll see...

Sleepless in Seattle

Sleepless, really. Spent too much at Seattle Premium Outlets. Tho it's a small mall, it's enough to make one broke. We spent 2.5 days there without stopping for food. Hubby and I ventured separately to maximise productivity. And it was a huge success. We checked in to Holiday Inn Express with one bag and came out with four. After which we went to Burlington Mall, another but smaller outlet mall for more shopping. The Nissan Altima bunk was FULL when we headed back to Vancouver that afternoon. I shopped for 2 and I needed more time! I spent most time in names like Polo Ralph Lauren, Coach, Gymboree, OshKoshBgosh, GAP and Carter's. There was a little drama at Coach which I intend to share. On Thursday we bought 5 items at 40% off outlet price + 10% special daily discount price. We thought it was good. The next day we dropped by in the morning to Coach to ask for a dustbag (which they don't give for factory goods) for my leather hobo and my horror, the sale was 50% off outlet price + 10% special daily discount! Because we are from Alberta, we pay no tax, otherwise another 8.5% on all purchases. Me being me, I got them to do a price match. With that I saved hubby a whopping USD120! Thanks to dustbag, my leather hobo is USD90 and striped sling is USD45. No you don't have to rub your eyes, it is unbelievable!

Comma in Coma

Thanks to my iron baby, my comma button has been dismembered from my lappy keyboard. Hubby and I tried very hard to put it back in place but unfortunately it didn't fit too well. Now I have a senget comma button. Sometimes it is rather hard to click on it. Somehow, I have a naughty thought, if I ask iron baby to peel more buttons off the panel, would I get a new lappy? MacBook Air perhaps?

Mini Lilac Cupcakes

I made these for baby Andrea Kyro's fullmoon party. I chose lilac icing simply because that is her mummy's favourite colour and it's just girlie. Cupcakes are vanilla double chocolate chip flavour with butter icing. On the plate you will see baby, daddy and mommy's names. Very glad they loved it and asked for more. This time according to the mummy, she wants BIG wans. Too bad baby Andrea didn't get a chance to try them.

She Bangs

Since the day I step foot in Calgary last year, my hair see no salon. One of the first tasks back in KL was to visit Shawn, our stylist. By that I mean, Isaac and me. Once in Dec 08 and another in Feb 09. Since then no more salon visits. So during this trip to Vancouver while we were checking out Robson Street (Orchard Rd kind), we saw tonnes of salons. And without a doubt I made appointment at Ark Salon, Japanese owned and operated. It felt too good to have a trim and head spa. I walked out with a bang. It shocked my hubby and MIL. Even Isaac stared at me for a while trying to register this fresh-looking lady who seems familiar. It was not cheap I must admit, I paid CAD70 for the do. The only concern both me and my Japanese stylist have is of my bang and trimmings in future. Sigh. One must be wondering why I didn't do my hair in Calgary. Simply because it's a known fact that Mat Sallehs have limited skills when it comes to Asian hair and the Chinese salons I find in Chinatown do not potray enough confidence for a try. And mind you they are not cheap at all. I love my bang. Should I use this a reason to visit Vancouver every 2 months?

Kiwi Frenzy

I went to Superstore to get some groceries today. One week away left my fridge almost empty. My MIL likes kiwi and they are on sale, 1kg for CAD2.89. So I got a bag. But the receipt showed CAD3.49. I have a habit of scanning all receipts before leaving any store and that saved me some good bucks, I must say. As usual, I spotted a CAD0.60 difference and went to customer service to have it returned. 

Me : Hi, I wanna return these kiwis.

Lady : Sure. Lemme help you with it.

Me : Actually it was priced as CAD2.89 but scanned as CAD3.49. Perhaps you wanna do a check before these kiwis start coming to you. *grin*

Lady : You are absolutely correct. Lemme call them right now.

2 mins later.........

Lady : You know what? They are CAD2.89. And you can these for free.

Me : Huh?

Lady : Uh-huh. I will now return you the CAD3.49 you paid earlier. Here you go. Have a good day.

Me : I LOVE YOU !

Part 1 : Agassiz, BC

We have returned from our week long vacation. It all started from 23rd right up to 31st May 09. From Calgary we flew to Abbortsford, BC and drove one hour to Agassiz, BC to attend our friends, David & Heather's wedding. David is our old time church friend in Ipoh. Heather is from Chilliwack, BC but both met and reside in San Francisco. We spent a day touring Agassiz and attended their wedding ceremony right in front of our room! Talk about convenience. It was a lovely wedding, something different from the 'yumseng' and gohji berries scattered on the new bed. We met some of his friends from the States and had good food with good chats. We dozed off early around 8.30pm due to fatique from the day's travelling. As we were soundly dreaming away, a roar of rock and roll music woke us up. The we I mean me and me. They had disco right outside our room where they had the ceremony. Imagine that! There were singing, dancing, yelling, screaming from 10pm to 12midnight. It was horrendous. Best part? Hubby, MIL and Isaac weren't moved by it at all. They even snored! Upon check-out I insist that my hubby asked them about the noise pollution. They calmly replied that it was arranged for the wedding and they have no better place to have it apart from outside our room. They knew fairly well that we have a baby in the room. Long live Canadians. We left the next day around noon to Vancouver.
